Dear Esteemed Members,
On behalf of the Asian Federation of Airsports (AFA), it is our pleasure to officially announce the appointment of Mr. Yousif Hassan Al Hammadi as Acting President of the AFA. This decision was made by the board members during the Executive Council meeting held in Hong Kong on 7 August 2025, in accordance with Clause 6.1.1.3 of the AFA Constitution, due to the completion and exceeding of the current president’s allowable term.
Mr. Al Hammadi brings with him extensive experience and exceptional leadership in the field of aviation and air sports. His distinguished career spans 37 years in aviation and aeronautical science, during which he held key leadership roles including:
• General Manager of General Aviation Airports
• General Manager of Ground Handling Services
His contributions to international air sports are well recognized. Mr. Al Hammadi has served as the Director of the Organizing Committee for prestigious events such as:
• World Air Games 2015
• Skydiving Mondial 2012
• Dubai International Parachuting Championships
• UAE Hike & Fly
• Various other international air sports events
In addition, Mr. Al Hammadi holds the following positions:
• Vice President, Emirates Aerosports Federation (since 2012)
• President, Emirates Aviation Association (since 1997)
• President, GCC Organization Commission (since 2010)
• Advisor to the African Airsport Federation
We extend our deepest gratitude to Captain Tang, the founding president, for his remarkable leadership and vision in shaping the AFA. His contributions have laid a strong foundation for the federation’s future growth and continued success.
We would also like to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of Mr. Andy Choa, Director General of AFA, whose steadfast commitment to uniting and guiding our members has been pivotal during this transitional period. His dedication has ensured the smooth progression of our initiatives and reinforced the collaborative spirit within the federation.
We are confident that under Mr. Al Hammadi’s leadership, the AFA will continue to thrive, fostering stronger partnerships among member organizations and furthering the development of air sports across Asia.
